Enso Series

In Zen calligraphy the Enso is symbolic of the universe and an expression of life’s journey.  It is a single circular brush stroke.  For these Ensos to be realized in metal, they have to be carefully crafted with the dynamic action occurring in the drawing, hammering and patination processes.  Ensos are a statement, a declaration that announces – I am here.  This is my place.  I am free to dissolve and merge, to be impermanent, to change, to be interconnected, to contribute to this world.  When repeated 3 or 6 times as seen here, their influence becomes more profound.  I find myself drawn to expanding this series in response to the current world situation.
