This series of circular forms is based on the archetypal idea of mountain/mandala as a 3-dimensional representation of the universe.  Meru is the mystical mountain that occupies the cosmological center, surrounded by lands and oceans, spaces and voids, light and energy.  This torus form centers on itself connecting within and without, concave with convex, immergence with absorption.  Psychologically it suggests a fluid connection that flows both ways between the inner person and the outer world.
